Charles Lorant is proud to be a native Alabamian. Born and raised in Birmingham, the son of first-generation Greek-American parents, he has followed a rich heritage of hardworking, passionate and caring folks–family, friends and community alike.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina, he competed in varsity sports and received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Psychology in 1979. He then came home to attend law school at the University of Alabama, graduating and being granted admission to the Alabama Bar in 1982 and was subsequently admitted to the Federal District Courts in Alabama.
Charlie followed the example of his dad, Jerry Lorant, (an actively practicing attorney for over 60 years), beginning his practice in Birmingham alongside his father in a partnership of renowned and battle-tested lawyers. Being true to his instincts to be his own person, applying his own life experiences and acquired skills, Charlie sought his own niche within the firm of Lorant, Harris & Yearout learning all he could, gaining experience in a variety of litigation areas, including products liability, personal injury and wrongful death cases.
Charlie joined Gathings Law in the Fall of 2010 with the objective of bringing his litigation experience to a firm with a rich tradition of leadership in the litigation field. His litigation experience will be utilized to the maximum benefit of the clients represented by Gathings Law.
